You can also pay by internet bank transfer – contact us for the sort code and account number. All prints sized 7”x5”, 9”x6”, and 10”x8” come with a lovely black bevelled matte ready for display. All these print sizes cost the same but you may wish to avoid 10”x8” unless the print is intended for a readymade frame of that size because its aspect ratio involves cropping some content from the two shortest sides of the image – compare a widescreen television to a standard television – 9”x6” resembles widescreen and 10”x8” resembles standard. If an image does not work in 10x8 it is supplied in 9x6. |

Background Information:
Eva and Toufik chose the Reading Register Office (sometimes incorrectly called the registry office) for their intimate marriage ceremony. Guests included just family and close friends.
Reading Register Office is a very busy wedding and civil partnership venue, particularly on Saturdays in the high season, and couples are urged to ensure that both they are their guests arrive in good time to avoid any snarlups. This was never going to be an issue with Eva and Toufik though, having come from impressive military and international careers!
The officiants responsible for marriages in this area now are on the whole pretty easy for professional photographers to work with ..... it does depend on who is on duty on the day and naturally all will be mindful of the tight schedule on popular days.
Reading Register Office does not have an indoor area suitable for posed group photographs so couples are advised to have a backup plan in case of poor weather. It does have a well-maintained garden immediately to the front of the building; again do bear in mind that on busy days this area will be in use almost constantly.
Peter recommends that couples consider making the short trip to Forbury Gardens in the centre of Reading for some additional unhurried photographs as the Gardens are always colourful and well-maintained. Plus no permit is required from the Local Authority to use the park for your wedding photos (at the time of writing). Compare this to some London Parks such as Regents Park where an expensive license must be obtained before the day.
This all fitted in very well with Eva and Toufik's plans as the wedding reception was to take place at the opulent Forbury Hotel overlooking Forbury Gardens.
On the day we had a lot of rain. A real lot! The Forbury Hotel Reading does have a gorgeous photogenic interior and there is space inside to shoot a good selection of posed groups if required. But even so most people look better when photographed in natural light and so we juggled the timetable a little in order to shoot these photos after the meal. The hotel has a small covered patio area to the rear which can be utilised in "emergencies" but the weather gave us a break and we were able to go to the park.
This view greets you as you approach Reading Register Office. Rather nice! There is lots of parking to the rear. The office's gardens are to the left of the photograph:
There are not many days each year when rain is so heavy and prolonged as to disrupt the plans. But this was one of those days! Fortunately the bestman was to hand to escort the bride and then the groom with a brolly. Meanwhile Peter got extremely wet. All professional photographers tend to carry a complete change of clothes - sometimes they learn the hard way!
Professional photography during wedding ceremonies is at the discretion of the officiant on duty on the day. Fortunately our registrars were accommodating and so it was possible to shoot a selection of photos whilst the marriage was in progress:
Its always great to be able to shoot character images of the couple during the ceremony - the most important part of the day after all. Most civil wedding offices are now coming on board with much more relaxed regulations:
The poor weather on the day precluded us from shooting outside. But the backup plan worked really well as we could use both the interior of the reception venue - the town centre Forbury Hotel Reading, or Forbury Gardens adjacent to the hotel. You can see the rather grand building below:

The interior of the Forbury Hotel has got to be seen to be appreciated. Sheer luxury. This photo shows one of the main function rooms prepared ready for the wedding breakfast:

The magnificent Forbury Gardens are just a few yards away from the Forbury Hotel and are an excellent location for the essential posed wedding photos. Our couple limited their guest list to just a few family and friends but even so we had a lot of variations to work through! In the photo below we see the bestman with his daughter; our groom is also her godfather. There were the inevitable comments about how quickly our children grow up, one moment a baby in arms the next a lovely young lady.
Forbury gardens was the venue for a music festival on the day and so we had to dodge the bands and the market stalls. But there is plenty of space and colour in the gardens:
