Background Information
Jennifer and Michael chose the lovely old church of St Andrew's Sonning Berkshire for their Summer marriage ceremony. Weddings at St Andrews can be photographed by professional photographers without too much in the way of restrictions. However photographers should be aware that the ambient light inside is very low and that the layout can make it difficult to obtain clean shots of the couples faces. The churchyard itself is well kept and has a variety of photogenic backdrops suitable for all but the largest of groups. Parking in the delightful village of Sonning is needless to say in very short supply and plenty of time should be allowed. Often weddings at St Andrews are followed by receptions at The Great House Hotel which is only a short walk away, and the hotel has adequate parking for patrons.
The couple chose for their wedding reception the unlikely sounding but picturesque Henley Business School. As Greenlands this was once the country estate of the WH Smith family and now is of course World renowned for its business training. It was known as Henley Management College until its merger with the University of Reading in August 2008.
Jennifer put a lot of planning into the day and this included a riverboat trip from Sonning to Henley. Despite it being the month of June we had a lot of rain in the lead up and it was touch and go whether the boat would be able to pass under the bridges as the River Thames was running so high. Fortunately things worked out - travelling by coach just would not have been the same! We got wet on the wedding day as well but that is becoming the norm! We were able to complete the couples requests for formal group wedding photos inside in the evening.
