Please forward this event to your friends and relations – Ashton Lamont does not collect guests email addresses at weddings but there are always lots of requests to view the galleries. And remember Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo etc!
We hope you enjoy the galleries and may be able to recommend Ashton Lamont to friends and colleagues for our wedding, event, portrait, and commercial work.
Guests: High quality individually edited photographic prints or printready digital files can be purchased. See the Online Order Form clickable underneath each fullsize image or contact us with your specific requirements and with your credit or debit card details or send in a cheque (payee “Ashton Lamont”). You can also pay by internet bank transfer – contact us for the sort code and account number. All prints sized 7”x5”, 9”x6”, and 10”x8” come with a lovely black bevelled matte ready for display. All these print sizes cost the same but you may wish to avoid 10”x8” unless the print is intended for a readymade frame of that size because its aspect ratio involves cropping some content from the two shortest sides of the image – compare a widescreen television to a standard television – 9”x6” resembles widescreen and 10”x8” resembles standard. If an image does not work in 10x8 it is supplied in 9x6. |

Jodie and Chris chose their local St Peters Church Caversham for their marriage ceremony.
Chris and some family and friends partook of some light refreshments at the nearby Griffin pub before departing for the church - seems to happen a lot with St Peters weddings!
The church itself has a lovely interior and photographers as well as couples will be pleased to hear that there are no serious restrictions on taking pictures during the wedding ceremony - just be sensible! The interior layout near the front, where of course the main action takes place, can be quite a challenge as the couple are positioned such that its very hard to obtain unrestricted shots of their faces. However it is permitted to shoot a little from the behind the choir stalls which are even further forward. Photographers may prefer to shoot a body of work from the back of the church, though bear in mind its a big building and long lenses will be required, preferably supported on a tripod unless using "fast" glass and high ISO-capable bodies.
The churchyard is quite crowded with trees and permanent residents, and many couples choose to make the short walk down to Caversham Court gardens on the banks of the River Thames. The gardens were closed for major restoration work and reopened just prior to Jodie and Chris's wedding. The "newness" did show a bit - the gardens will be very photogenic once the flora becomes more established - so we just did a few photos before departing for the wedding breakfast.
The wedding reception took place just a few miles north at The Swan at Streatley. The Swan has a prime riverside location and the mature and varied gardens offer a wide variety of backdrops for great photos. One of my favourites is the upper deck of the old barge.
Formal photos seem to be making a resurgence in popularity having once been squeezed almost out of existence by the now ubiquitous "reportage" style, and Jodie had quite a few on her wish list. One big advantage of Summer weddings such as Jodie and Chris's in respect of your photography is that its possible to shoot in natural daylight in the evening rather than cramming everything into the afternoon. And thats just what we did.
St Peters Church Caversham Reading is a popular wedding venue and fortunately the officiants are pretty easy going when it comes to professional photography during the ceremony. However as with many old churches the interior design can be tricky to work within especially if you wish to shoot the faces of the couple from any angle other than the rear. In the photo below you can see the choir stalls and it is possible to sneak a few shots from behind these.

The Swan at Streatley has a very desirable position right on the banks of the River Thames. Ceremonies can take place inside the hotel or in the barge which is permanently tethered to the riverbank. Every couple likes to have a few photos on the top deck of the barge regardless of where their ceremony took place!
