Not all images "work" in black and white. Some have been selected as suitable for conversion and can be viewed within the main galleries. Others can be uploaded for you on request.
Guests - no highspeed internet access? Please request a free CD of these galleries (please note that images are watermarked and not printable).
Please forward this event to your friends and relations – Ashton Lamont does not collect guests email addresses at weddings but there are always lots of requests to view the galleries. And remember Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, Bebo etc!
We hope you enjoy the galleries and may be able to recommend Ashton Lamont to friends and colleagues for our wedding, event, portrait, and commercial work.
Guests: High quality individually edited photographic prints or printready digital files can be purchased. See the Online Order Form clickable underneath each fullsize image or contact us with your specific requirements and with your credit or debit card details or send in a cheque (payee “Ashton Lamont”). You can also pay by internet bank transfer – contact us for the sort code and account number. All prints sized 7”x5”, 9”x6”, and 10”x8” come with a lovely black bevelled matte ready for display. All these print sizes cost the same but you may wish to avoid 10”x8” unless the print is intended for a readymade frame of that size because its aspect ratio involves cropping some content from the two shortest sides of the image – compare a widescreen television to a standard television – 9”x6” resembles widescreen and 10”x8” resembles standard. If an image does not work in 10x8 it is supplied in 9x6. |

Natalie and Paul chose Wokefield Park Mortimer, near Reading Berkshire for their marriage ceremony and for their wedding reception.
Wokefield Park is a De Vere venue and is located just a few miles from Junction 11 of the M4 motorway and not much further from the M3. This alone makes it a great choice of venue if you have guests travelling from all over the South of England or even beyond. Its even more convenient for Peter as its within walking distance of his base in Burghfield Common! As you might expect he has worked there many times, shooting weddings and various corporate and club events - including the golf club dignitaries!
The registrars responsible for conducting weddings and civil partnerships at Wokefield Park have mellowed over the years and its now possible to shoot both still photographs and video without too much in the way of restrictions on professional photographers during the ceremony. Indeed our chief registrar on the day even invited Peter to shoot some photos of the civil register being signed for real - something completely unheard of until recently. We did of course complete some posed photos as well after this, giving the guests the opportunity to photograph the couple.
The venue is large and spacious inside and was refurbished fairly recently. There is a good selection of locations within the interior to shoot should the weather let you down. Outside it has enormous grounds including a lake - if you can muster the energy to walk that far! (a golf buggy may be borrowed if you don't feel up to the walk). The exterior is quite short on shaded areas so Peter recommends that you are prepared to move around a bit to find the best locations for the posed photos; these always look better when shot in light shade rather than in the direct bright sunlight of the sort we had on the day. You'll see from the galleries that we managed to achieve this and peter is very grateful for the participants understanding and co-operation.
After the couples first dance Natalie and her Dad performed a carefully rehearsed dance which went down a storm with all the guests.
The Mansion House is the older part of the Wokefield Park venue and is where weddings normally take place. It has a rather grand front as you can see in the photo below, as so lends itself well to a few "traditional" style posed images:

The rear of the Mansion House is almost as imposing and makes an ideal setting for big group wedding photos on the terraces and sloping lawns as in the next photograph:

The main ceremony room at Wokefield Park is big and roomy and so professional photographers can shoot from favourable angles without causing any distractions. The registrars are quite relaxed about allowing photography and video during ceremonies as in the photo below. The aspect of the room is such that if the couple are positioned near the picture windows there can be a big difference between the amount of light reaching the lightest and the darkest areas. This means that detail may be lost in one of these areas - the light or the dark - if there is bright sunlight. The windows do have blinds but you would not normally use these unless the light is constant and bright. On the day we had changeable light during the ceremony so the blinds were not utilised:

The exterior of this venue has extensive grounds including some cultivated and some wilder areas, and even a lake. In the photo below you can see the stag party taking a rather dangerous leap off an old log!

Most couples like to have some posed photos of immediate family members and suchlike and normally the best results are obtained when the participants are positioned in light shade rather than in direct sunlight. Direct sunlight leads to very contrasty images with unflattering skintones. Sometimes there is no choice but it is worth making the extra effort if a suitable area is available such as at the golf club end of the Mansion House building at Wokefield Park. Alternatively, in the Summer the formal photos can be shot in the early evening after the wedding breakfast rather than after the ceremony when the natural light is usually more forgiving:

Once the ceremony is over guests go out into the bar and onto the terraces whilst the room is prepared for the wedding breakfast. The photograph below shows the room finished ready for the guests and couple to return:

The terraces to the rear of the Mansion House Wokefield Park have a Mediterranean ambience and make a very pleasant area for drinks and mingling. The white steps to the left in the photo below can be great for posing wedding groups.
