A wedding photo slideshow one of very many weddings Peter has photographed and videoed in this area including The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne. It illustrates the lovely quirky venue which is just a few short miles north of Reading Berkshire. It includes one main wedding at this venue and a few shots from another older wedding that Peter has shot here. The slideshow runs from the arrivals through to the late evening including a live band. Background Information and Highlights

The bride and grooms featured in this sample photo gallery chose the Elephant Hotel in the village of Pangbourne just north of Reading Berkshire for their marriage ceremony and wedding reception.

The Elephant Hotel is "Indian Empire" themed in its decor and furnishings, reflecting its 19th century history and this gives it a real one-off quirky vibe - great for weddings! Parking at the venue itself is very limited but there is a large public open air car park right next door. The private enclosed gardens at the rear are sheltered by mature trees - making it good for the group photos - and on one side is the lovely old St James the Less church.

The registrars responsible for marriage ceremonies at the Elephant Hotel Pangbourne are from the nearby Newbury Register Office and as usual there were no onerous restrictions on professional photography and video.

The weather on the day was warm and bright with just enough cloud cover to provide ideal conditions for shooting the group photos and portraits - phew! Many thanks to our rounder-uppers who helped find the participants for the very many groups; we must have broken a few records getting through the list extremely quickly.

Outdoor weddings are now available at the Elephant Hotel.

"Just to say the photos are wonderful. We're thrilled with them. As one guest said, 'They really caught the happiness of the day"

Helen and Steve B (Elephant Hotel Pangbourne)

"Thank you ever so much - the photos look great and we are looking forward to picking some out to get printed. It's also great that we can share them with our friends as there are some lovely ones of all the kids who were there! Thanks again"

Maria and James K (Elephant Hotel Pangbourne)

“I hope you are well. I was wondering if you could share the images from ***’s wedding that you photographed here. Thank you very much”

The first photo above illustrates the main entrance to the Elephant Hotel in the centre of Pangbourne. The main function room for ceremonies is straight through the windows in the foreground.

The front function room looks lovely set up ready for the marriage ceremony

The enclosed private gardens are pretty much perfect. The St James The Less Church Pangbourne is in the background. It is one of three in the group, all known to Peter. One - St Laurance Church Tidmarsh is featured in Peter’s christenings compilation gallery here

Most couples like to have a few semi-formal photos of the groom and some of the VIP guests just before the ceremony

Most photo coverage is usually in the “reportage” style - candid and with very little formality. Most couples do like to add a selection of semi-formal and set-piece photos featuring some groups and VIP guests. The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne can work well for the big group photos as the participants can be placed at various heights to ensure that everyone can be seen or Peter may stand on a table or chair to gain some extra height

The proud dad with the bride to be

There is an abundance of fun photos to be had during weddings!

Very many more mature couples choose to get married now and couples who are teenagers or in their early twenties are far fewer

The bride and groom exchange their wedding rings during the ceremony at the Elephant Hotel Pangbourne

It works great if the photographer i.e. Peter arranges for the confetti shower

It is best that the portraits are photographed in shaded areas of the gardens if the sun is very bright. This is because if in full sun the results may be too contrasty and less than flattering despite all the editing available afterwards!

Detail photos of the bouquets are very popular as are other subjects such as shoes jewellery etc usually shot during the “getting ready” part of the day

The speeches during the wedding breakfast are a must-have photo opportunity. Even more so is video for obvious reasons!

Roulette and more were booked for the entertainment of the guests during the evening

The bride and grooms’ first dance is a must-have for the photo album. Works great for video as well!

Live music was featured throughout the evening at this wedding at the Elephant Hotel Pangbourne
