Bride and groom exchange vows during their wedding ceremony at St George the Martyr Church in Wash Common near Newbury Berkshire

Background Information and Highlights

The lovely Anglican St George the Martyr Church is located in Wash Common, just a short distance from Newbury town centre in Berkshire. It is great for photography and video as the interior is spacious and well lit, and the exterior has access to a large private garden. The church hall is adjacent to the church and this was utilised in this sample wedding gallery for the wedding reception. There is plenty of free parking.

There are no onerous restrictions on shooting professional photography and video. Indeed the church itself now offers live streaming plus video on Youtube - very popular since the Covid pandemic prevented many of the regular congregation from attending in person whether it be for weddings christenings or funerals.

The bride and groom are both priests! The bride works in Devon and the groom aboard a Royal Navy Warship.

There were lots of priests attending in addition to our bride and groom. For a moment it resembled a set on Father Ted!

Great character shots were in abundance

The church was packed with lots of guests and even had the choir up on the balcony

The choir in full flow. Peter was a choir boy at his church in Lincolnshire more years ago than he cares to remember!

Lots of the little people were present for the wedding!

Peter was able to shoot a great selection of the essential group photos and portraits in the adjacent garden. He had to work quickly as rain was threatening things and did indeed start shortly afterwards
