Background Information and Highlights

Important Update: After nearly 100 years of weddings at Artington House including many famous faces e.g. Peter Sellers with Brit Ekland, this venue is closing in early November 2026.

New registry office ceremony rooms are being fitted out to a high standard in the library in the town centre. This is expected to be available from early April 2027. Meanwhile there will be availability at the nearby Harbour Hotel for small ceremonies on Sundays and Mondays n.b. the hotel does offer full-on weddings as well!

Car parking is available in several nearby locations but these are payable.

Just a short walk from the library and the hotel is the lovely photogenic Guildford Castle, an ideal location for lots of post-ceremony portraits and group photos. It has steep hills though so do check it out beforehand if you have guests with walking issues.

Update To The Update! As of 22nd September the staff at Artington House (Guildford Register Office) have told me that the new register office ceremony room in Guildford Library may not after all be utilised when finished. Instead of this a ceremony room in Farnham Library may be the new location. This is not described on their website as of this date. It was unclear whether pre-ceremony enquiries and booking visits etc will take place in Guildford or in Farnham. Please contact the staff to check out the current situation during November ‘26 to April ‘27 for yourself.

Guildford Register Office was located just to the south of the town centre of Guildford Surrey. There was some onsite private parking but the Office could be very busy particulary on summer Saturdays with lots of ceremonies in quick succession so everyone needed to allow plenty of time. The upper car park was reserved for limousines and such like and the lower car park reserved for guests.

I have worked with the Register Office staff many times for both photography and combined photography and video. They have always been friendly and very helpful.

Many couples who book Guildford Register Office prefer a strict target budget or may have low numbers of guests and so like to keep their professional photo coverage to just the one location. I offer special short notice / short duration packages for this - please enquire.

“We chose Peter from a shortlist of three photographers on the strength of his reviews and the galleries on his website. His previous photos looked like the best of all three. On top of that, as we were having a Covid-19 wedding (i.e. almost no guests allowed) we wanted a tailor made package rather than a full day’s hire of a photographer. Peter was able to do this for us and for a price we thought was very reasonable. On the day of our wedding, Peter was already at the registry office before us and had spoken to the staff to find out what was the position on the day. We started with photographs prior to the ceremony and during the ceremony. In addition, Peter was more than happy to come along to our house and take further photos there. We have both found the photos to be of a very high standard and we received 87 of them for what was a little over an hour and a half of Peter’s time. The photos are well taken and we are very pleased with them. They were also posted to us on both DVD and USB memory stick as well as being online. I can’t recommend Peter more highly. Very professional indeed!”
